Christmas Sanity

December is right around the corner, and if you don’t plan ahead one of the most meaningful holidays could easily turn into one of the most stressful and costly times of year. Fortunately, lots of holiday-smart articles are filling the blogosphere these days, offering good reminders like the importance of setting and sticking to a gift budget; bargain hunting on eBay, Craigslist, and in thrift stores; and a perennial favorite on my wife’s side of the family: the white elephant gift exchange, in which everyone brings something they already own but no longer want.

A couple of years ago, right after the holidays, I teamed up with the market research firm Synovate to ask people what they wish they had done more or less of during the Christmas season. As we steam ahead toward another holiday season, a review of the findings (read the “Holiday Regrets” news release) may help you have a more positive experience this time around.

What do you plan to do differently this year in order to enjoy a more meaningful, less financially draining holiday season?
